Uno de los elementos que más me gustaron fue la manera de ambientar los relatos: los lugares y lo que en ellos sucede, a veces lúgubres, a veces más luminosos pero siempre con un toque sobrenatural.

Los personajes se parecen vagamente a los que conocemos de las narraciones pero deciden tomar decisiones diferentes y eso los lleva hacia lugares insospechados.

Cada cuento conserva la sensación de fantasía de los originales pero con un giro que los lleva más hacia lo tétrico que hacia lo maravilloso.

What can one say about Angela Carter and The Bloody Chamber that hasn't been said before? That she was an incredible talent and her fairy tale retellings and adaptations are brilliant in every sense of the word doesn't really cover it. This is a book that I'll be referring to many times over the coming months and I'm only annoyed that I have to return it to the library tonight.

My mother gave me these dark fairy tales as a holiday gift last year. We promptly read one of the short ones aloud and were laughing at the dark twist the story took. The writing here is excellent and these tales will stick with me for a while. I'm glad to have had a chance to enjoy these. ...more
