I was surprised by how much I liked this book. It's not the kind I typically read...the story of a neglected girl who become a beauty and the object of affection for a boy from her town and high school. Grace falls in love with him as well as his family and they secretly get married. From there the story takes one twist after another. Grace is a thief. Young Grace who lives in Paris anonymously and checks her hometown newspaper daily to find out about her boyfriend Riley who is being released from prison - for a crime she planned. The whole premise of this story is clever and unique. I enjoyed the story, it never seemed to go where I thought it would. I love a good antiheroine, and we definitely get one here. Small town girl goes to fancy college, feels class envy (the microscopic details describing the elite art world of NYC are spot on, and the class envy is brutally and beautifully described), fits in nowhere, regresses to a dead end life, comes up with a heist, betrays her partners, escapes to Europe and throws herself into the underworld of antiques and forgery.
