This was the second time that I had finished this book and this time around I realized things that I hadn't noticed the first time around. It felt surreal at times; like one was in a dream-like state and it also felt like I could concentrate more on the story line of the book, rather than just focusing on finishing the book the first time around. It also felt a tad heavier than the first time that I had read it, but still quite enjoyable and still something that will haunt me.

Lovely book. I was truly captivated by Sebold's writing and her ideas of an afterlife of a murdered teenage girl. Part fantasy, part crime novel, part family history - elements of books which I hold dear. My main complaint is that more than once, I ran across bad grammar or at least poor word choices, something I am a stickler about for a book to be a great book. I also found Abigail's character development to be annoyingly stereotypical, but enjoyed the development of Ray, Ruth, and Len.
