This was the second time that I had finished this book and this time around I realized things that I hadn't noticed the first time around. It felt surreal at times; like one was in a dream-like state and it also felt like I could concentrate more on the story line of the book, rather than just focusing on finishing the book the first time around. It also felt a tad heavier than the first time that I had read it, but still quite enjoyable and still something that will haunt me.

Told from the perspective of a young teen who was recently murdered. There is a flash back to the events that lead up to the murder and the killing itself (though not tooo graphic) and how she watches her family deal (or not deal) with her disappearance (her body isn’t found). Lovely book. I was truly captivated by Sebold's writing and her ideas of an afterlife of a murdered teenage girl. Part fantasy, part crime novel, part family history - elements of books which I hold dear. My main complaint is that more than once, I ran across bad grammar or at least poor word choices, something I am a stickler about for a book to be a great book. I also found Abigail's character development to be annoyingly stereotypical, but enjoyed the development of Ray, Ruth, and Len.

This was a good page turner. I also thought she did a great job realistically portraying grief in a family. I haven't read any reviews of the movie yet, but it seems like it would make an interesting movie.
