Shelves: historical, family, book-club

Enjoyable, but also really predictable and a lot of the characters felt like caricatures- the troubled teen who turns out to be a book nerd, the old lady with A Past... The title is also deceiving, as the train itself figures so little into the book. I felt unsatisfied with the story and really wished for a little more meat, for something interesting and unexpected happen. This was a really great book. It drew me in with the first chapter and I was reluctant to put it down after that. Now that I am finished, I will have to get caught up with chores.

I thought I would LOVE this book. I liked it. I felt that was something the author held back...I had a hard time at the beginning of this book. reading about Niahm's foster families was brutal. Each one got worse. After about 100 pages I really started to enjoy the book. I liked reading about Molly - she was a great, lovely character. Niahm was a little more closed off and harder to connect too. I did love the ending though. ...more
