I think this would be a higher rating if I hadn't listened to it on audiobook. Reason below.

I wouldn't say that this is the best written book out there but I am always willing to overlook that if I enjoy something. It was fun to read and I liked it enough to move right along to the sequel. There were a few too many Potter parallels to give it 4 stars, however. I won't list them, but if you are a Potter fan, they should jump out at you.

I really liked this book, I enjoyed the complexity of all the characters, but some of the plotlines/history/magic stuff was a little complicated for me to keep up with. I LOVED the character of Luke and how he is such a great dad to Clary ... the werewolf thing is pretty cool ;) The length of this book overwhelmed me a little, but not so much that I didn't want to keep picking up this book and continuing with the story. I really did enjoy this book. It took a long time to read because I am in a book club and lately have only had time to read the book club book. We are currently taking a month off book club so it gave me some time to finish this book. I am looking forward to reading the 2nd book and finding out what happens next.
