I think this would be a higher rating if I hadn't listened to it on audiobook. Reason below.

I listened to the audiobook and yeeeeeccccchhhh. As another reviewer on here said, the narrator was craptastic, "not that she had much to work with." I hated all the characters. If you want some quality fantasy, go read Harry Potter. The end.

I really did enjoy this book. It took a long time to read because I am in a book club and lately have only had time to read the book club book. We are currently taking a month off book club so it gave me some time to finish this book. I am looking forward to reading the 2nd book and finding out what happens next.
Just finished this one and I loved it. It was a little distracting for me that I'd seen the movie first, but I still really enjoyed the book. The writing is well done, the story manages to walk a fine line in not repeating too much of the standard scifi/fantasy tropes, and I was interested through the end.

I had a few moments of not quite wanting to continue with this book, but I'm glad I stuck it out. I ended up enjoying it a lot. It is full of adventure, suspense, and surprises around every turn. I am definitely looking forward to continuing with the series.

Not as horrible as I expected, but was still boring and a hell of a lot longer than it needed to be. Not interested in reading any of the other books at all.
