Read 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014...so many times I have lost count
Love Love Love Love Love, freaking Love.
I was reluctant to read these. Not really sure why, but then enough people told me "So good! Just read it!" that I did.

I had read some pretty mixed reviews of this book, so I was actually pleasantly surprised by how entertained I was by it. There were a few twists/betrayals that I was actually fairly surprised by, which doesn't happen all that often to me. Clare's built an interesting and pretty unique universe for a very popular genre, which isn't that easy to do. I'll be very interested to see where this series goes next.

I have to admit, my first try at reading City of Bones back when it first came out was not successful. I had read some of Cassandra Clare's fanfiction back in the day and I had a bad taste in my mouth over the plagiarism accusations and other online shenanigans. I tried reading the book and I saw too many similarities to the characterizations in her fanfiction. Oh. Oh, how I wish, so hard, we could have had more things from Jace's point of view. I liked the series, but it would have been far more compelling from his mindset.

I really want to call this a 3.5, but if I have to chose 3 or 4. It's more 4 than three. I do agree with the reviewer than half-spoiled me as I was checking out this series a week ago. Book one is a whole lot more Telling-Than-Showing which usually bugs the crap out of me as a reader and an English Major.
