I have to admit, my first try at reading City of Bones back when it first came out was not successful. I had read some of Cassandra Clare's fanfiction back in the day and I had a bad taste in my mouth over the plagiarism accusations and other online shenanigans. I tried reading the book and I saw too many similarities to the characterizations in her fanfiction. Not a bad book. I just didn't get into it. The characters acted like kids, which was annoying to me. But since they were kids, that was to be expected.

listened to the audiobook in may 2009; read the hardcopy in june 2009. MAN, THIS BOOK WAS A HOT MESS.
I'm read this on the advice of a couple of thirteen year olds... and it wasn't half bad, if you're into the whole demon-hunter, vampire/werewolf thing!
