2013: I actually read an entire book in one day! I cannot remember the last time I made such an accomplishment. This was a great story, riveting and well-deserving of the numerous awards it has garnered.

Read this book for a second time with my students. It's such a compelling book; they responded so deeply to it...they were outraged and disturbed and grew to care about the main character, Jonas. The ending was confusing for them. I agree with them that there are several ways to read the ending. We had great discussions.

What a wonderful book. My son is reading it for his 6th grade English class so I thought I'd read it too. A fantastic look at the problems that arise when you create a society of "sameness."
