I know this is a modern classic, beloved by friends, and a dystopian, one of my favorite genres. Also, it was on audio book when I needed one to listen to. Perfect, right? Sort of.

I like the idea of this book, but I wish Lowry would write it more elaborately. For me the tension and action of this book is a bit half baked, and the conclusion is not satisfying. I know that this book is the first of the series, but when I read the synopsis of the other books, turned out it's not that related to Jonah's adventure in The Giver. I wonder how the movie will be.

I don't know how I'd never read this book before, but wow...definitely deserving of all of the praise and awards it's gotten. Remarkable.
