Yes, this is a long read at almost 800 pages but it kept me hooked the whole way through. It's beautifully written and the main character Theo is so perfectly rendered as a broken and tragic young man that you can't help but feel for him and want him to find his way in the world.

I got this book on my Kindle without knowing it was over 700 pages long! Usually I don't read such long books, or literary novels, which this was. Overall I enjoyed the story. But there were times when I wanted to quit and would skim many pages before settling back into it. I knew nothing about the author until I finished the book. I was certain the author was British!
