I’m still processing this. Donna Tartt is a genius though.
I listened to this on audiobook, and I'm glad, because I don't think I would have gotten through parts of it without the forward motion of the narrator. Pittu was great - lots of distinct voices, not over-the-top but certainly emotional when needed, a little weaker on the women's voices than the men's. He's not my favorite audiobook talent out there, but still very strong.

Thank you to everyone who recommended The Goldfinch and continued to do so. I downloaded the book months ago, always planning to read it at some point. I kept seeing in pop up as a favorite so I decided yesterday that it was my next read. Although a long book, I finished it within two days as I had to know what happened. I'm wavering between 3 and 4 stars for this one. This was a daunting audiobook, approximately triple the length of the ones I usually listen to, but it didn't drag on like I worried it would. There was some really beautiful stuff in here, but I also got very tired of Theo, especially when it came to detailing his drug use. If you can stomach the 32 hours running time, the audio version is quite good - the narrator has very distinct voices for all the characters.

Couldn't put this down. Really captivating, complex story that reads quickly.
Slightly strange final chapter, preachy almost, but ultimately I appreciated the ideas stated, so I was fine with it. ...more
