This one made my stomach turn and I'm glad it was the last of the 3 Flynn books that I read; if I had read this first, I highly doubt I would have read Gone Girl and Dark Places (read in that order). Right from the start, it was dark, disturbing and just kind of freaky to me. Flynn's writing, as in her other 2 books, flows well and I read this book in 24 hours' time, mainly because I just HAD to see who did it (I didn't predict correctly). The sentence fragments in this book drove me NUTS, too!

On the whole I liked the characters and the whole twisted, gothic feel of Windgap, MO. Unfortunately the whole cutting storyline didn't grab me, and instead distracted from the otherwise strong story.

This is Gillian Flynn’s first book and the only one I hadn’t read. I know the crowd favorite is Gone Girl, but I prefer Dark Places and Sharp Objects - and The Grownup. Sharp Objects lacks a bit in suspense, but makes up for it in darkness. The ending was either over-edited or not fully developed; it felt incidental to the story. All of that being said, this is worth reading.
