The Glass Castle has appeared on all of my recommended reading lists for years. It's a memoir about a smart girl and her dysfunctional family, which are all generally topics of interest to me. Maybe this one is a little too close to home, though my alcoholic has been sober a long time and was high-functioning. Some of these stories were just unbelievably painful and made me cringe.
