I hate designating this as "chick lit" because I feel there was more to it than that, but that's the general consensus on what it is, so there you go. I found the story moving, and sometimes very funny, but also thought provoking. Perhaps this has to do with my own personal situation, but having, or leaving, a "List" as one of t ...more

Holly, a 29-year-old Irish woman, is shattered after the death of her beloved husband, Gerry, of a brain tumor. Gerry always joked that Holly would be lost without him and promised to leave her a list of reminders. Gerry did, in fact, manage to leave Holly a package containing 10 letters to help her get through the rest of the year after his death. She is to open one letter each month and do what it says. Gerry's letters push Holly to move on with her life, in ways both large and small. Holly's

This was my favorite book of 2007 right there with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It's the story of a Holly who is married to the love of her life Gerry, then Gerry dies from cancer and that just takes the life out of Holly. She just fades away. that is until she receives a package with 10 letters written to her by Gerry before he died to be opened a letter a month.. These letters guide her and help ease her pain for losing Gerry.. It was sentimentally romantic that touched me in so ...more

This isn't a book I would have normally picked out for myself, but I enjoyed it very much. It wasn't depressing as one might expect, it being about a woman coping with her husband's death and all. It was actually quite uplifting. The characters were fun and interesting, and the story moved along at a steady pace. The writing style was a little bit ametureish, but it really didn't matter. The story was firmly in place and all the characters were believable. It didn't end quite how I expected it t

Re-read in March 2020 in preparation for reading Ahern's latest release, Postscript, which is a follow up to PS I Love You! I remembered the general idea of PS I Love You from my previous reading of it in 2014, but I really enjoyed revisiting the characters and story. I stand by my original review - very genuine, real-life, real-emotion feel. Happy to have re-read it!

This story starts out with Holly grieving the death of her husband. Gerry left little messages for her to read each month over the next year, each one containing instructions for her. I laughed, if I were a crier I would have cried.
I love that it's set in Ireland (cool Irish slang!) and that the ending is NOT what you expect... keeps it a bit more realistic.
Holly is so lucky to have such strong support from family and friends, not everyone has that. ...more

I really thought I would like this book more than I did. I am a lover of chick lit and a little "cheese" doesn't bother me. But I really didn't think this book was all that well written. I gave it 3 stars because I didn't hate it. I did like it at parts. But I mostly just made myself finish it because I really wanted to like it.

I loved it. I didn't expect to like it, but I really did. There were parts that were similar to that of the movie, but I actually found the book to be actually more engaging than that of the movie, as the book went more indepth. Beautiful book :)

Good book for the beach. The writing was sort of 'choppy' at points, but the storyline was good.
