I'm really impressed that Christopher Paolini bega nwriting this book at age 15. It's a very, very good effort. I found the book to be very engaging and kind of addictive, but I also felt there were a lot of weak plot points, where perhaps the author didn't really have strong ideas about how to move the story forward and therefore certain things/characters jumped in at the last moment to solve the problem. This novel is pure fantasy. I read the first sentence and was immediately entranced by all of these characters, as well as the story's dragon rider lore. Even if the book and its sequels are considered young adult, it captured my attention and took me to another world--just what books are supposed to achieve. I can't wait to continue with the rest.
