Yes, the book is disturbing. Yes, it's violent. That didn't actually bother me. The biggest problem I had with the book was how slow it was to start. The last half moved along quickly, and I found myself reading it in longer and longer stretches, but considering that the book is supposed be about these two main characters and how they work together to solve a case, and they don't even meet until somewhere around page 300....it was too much backstory for me. I thought this was a pretty good book. I read this because it was available when my last travel book was finished... I don't usually like to read the "popular" book that's currently going around, but this one was ok and worth the time.

This was a very difficult book for me to start. In fact, I checked it out from the library and started it twice. I just couldn't get into it-seemed boring and some the translation was a little weird. Then I read another member's review and he had the same issues I had, until he read until about page 45. I thoroughly enjoyed this book - it started off a bit slow, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Such great characters - I was sad when it was over. Can't wait to read the next two!

Eh. Interesting, but a little too graphically violent for my taste.
Boring at first, but then...awesome! It took me 4 tries and 100 pages to get into it, but once I passed the 100 page area or so, I was hooked. I haven't had a normal sleep schedule all week b/c I keep staying up to read this darn book. Looking forward to getting my normal sleep cycle back...
