i tried to listen to this on tape - and i really didn't like it. Then i saw the print version at the library and thought i would give it a whirl. It took me a while ti get into it, but when i did, i liked the book. I am not quite sure why people are so crazy about this book - i did enjoy the characters. Especially lisbeth...but it seemed rather run-of-the-mill thriller book. Except that it takes place in Sweden. I don't think i will read the other books in the Millenium series but who knows. I d

I liked it, but it did not blow my mind - I guess the hype maybe made me expect too much? It was a good book and I enjoyed it, but it was kind of like The Da Vinci code, where I felt like I just didn't quite understand what all the fuss was about.

A wonderfully complex main character makes this murder mystery a psychological study as well while she helps investigate a decades-old family secret and stumbles into a larger and more cynical series of deaths.
Set in the author's native Sweden, this book kept me glued to my mp3 player and anxiously awaiting for the next installment which will be published in the U.S. at the end of July.

A good mystery--really kept my interest, and very well written. One of the protagonists is an odd character, not sure I liked her, but a good read. It was also wild to see some of the cultural differences as it takes place in Sweden--especially the food--people eat some very interesting things there :)
I should add as well, there is some disturbing sexual violence in the book, so be warned if you're reading it. ...more

I thought this book started out slow, but by the end I was totally sucked in and stayed up late to finish it. The tone is a little strange -- kind of cold and removed, but if you make it through the first part of the book the story does become really enthralling. I am interested to read the other books by this author.

A good mystery/thriller with several stories happening at once. I agree with others - the backstory was tedious, but it didn't take but the first chapter and then things just started rolling along. Ready to launch into the next one :)

I really liked the mystery but did not like the underlying financial story as much. Overall, it was a good book. I'm excited to read the next one!
