I don't usually read graphic novels but i picked this up at the thrift store and figured, "eh. why not?" It was pretty good. I don't know much about the Middle East so this was really interesting. The author/protagonist describes growing up in Iran. Her parents are very forward-thinking and this is a great description of the country at war. I didn't find Marjane to be terribly likable but then again, who is at 16?
