This is a frustrating and odiously problematic book, but I would be a big fat liar if I said I did not genuinely enjoy reading it. It was at least three hundred pages too long and had some of the most god awful and vile characters I've ever read, but damn I couldn't stop reading it. That said, I doubt I would have liked this as much had I not watched the tv show. I'm giving this a 4, but I'd put this somewhere between 3.5 and 4.

I have had this book for years. I bought it during a really busy time in my life and found it too hard to read piecemeal between obligations.
When the Starz series was in the first "Droughtlander" break, I binge watched Season 1. Doing so compelled me to dig 'Outlander' out of the bookcase and read it.
I enjoyed getting to experience the landscape and history of Scotland as well as I did the story of Jamie and Claire. I have been working on my family genealogy for several years. My paternal side ...more
