I can’t say enough about this book. I was in love with it by the time I’d read 100 pages. In fact, it’s an 800+ page book and I read it in about 4 days. And I’ve *already* reread parts. I think I’ve read the final chapter 4 times now. I’m not sure what makes it affect me so. It’s very passionate, and the suspense in parts is so much that I think I stopped breathing. I mean, you’re pretty sure that certain people aren’t going to die, but you’re not *quite* sure. And at one point there’s a decisio

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this book, but it was impossible to get past the ridiculously high amount of sexual violence. Every other chapter, someone was getting raped, or nearly getting raped, or being threatened with rape, or recounting in graphic detail how they were raped/nearly raped. For 700 pages. It distracted from what I suspect would otherwise have been quite an enjoyable book.
It usually doesn't take me this long to read a book unless I start to loose interest. In this case I just wanted to make this book last a nice long while. I know there are a lot more books in the series but I just enjoyed slowly making my way through Claire and Jaime's love story as it unfolded.

Claire is a happily married nurse in the 1940's, jaunting about the Scottish highlands when she gets thrust back in time two centuries. Adventure & romance ensue. It sounds kind of dumb, but I ate it up and now I see why this is such a popular series. It's literary escapism at its finest. Kind of smutty, but also kind of intelligent so you don't feel so bad for loving it.

This was a second-time read for me and I'm surprised at how very much I'd forgotten. It was ridiculous. It was just like reading the book for the first time (with the major key points remembered, of course) but I found myself riveted, just as I was the first time that I read the series.

This book really polarizes people! So obviously, I have to see for myself. Badly written romances do occasionally call to me, so maybe I'll like it. I like vampire pr0n, even if it is embarrassing. So time-travel pseudo silliness? Why not?
Update, from 2/3 of the way through: This is total crack. I completely understand why everyone love/hates it. I haven't been able to put it down! ...more

This book is definitely an undertaking, but so worth the hours spent! I am looking forward to continuing the series and can't wait to see what happens next in Claire and Jamie's journey!

I'm usually not a re-reader but I will with this series! Read it first about 10 years ago and it's just as good the 2nd time around now!
