This is one of my sister-in-law's favorite books, and after reading I can tell why! There's action, adventure, love, and a history lesson or two. Great book--I'm glad to be reading this series!

I will never understand why women love this book and series. 🤔🥱
I am a bit torn about this. There are parts that I loved, and a lot that I skimmed. I just felt like it was too long...one too many winding adventures.
Not sure I will read any of the other books....although I am curious about where she takes the concept. I do plan to watch the Starz series.

This is one of my all time favorite books. I enjoyed the plot line, the characters and her descriptions. She is a gifted writer who doesn't hold back when a difficult scene presents itself. It upsets me that this book is sometimes lumped with romance (which I do read on a regular basis). I think it misses a whole another audience by not being designated historical fiction.

A good read, already looking forward to Book 2....
A few scenes I could have lived without, but overall a good story. I like the characters and if some things were a bit unbelievable, well, what is reading, but an escape from reality :)

Inconsistent, disturbing ignorance of historical life and attitudes - frankly, I never finished the book.
