A little too slow for my taste. I kept getting bored and had to force myself to finish it. But I thought the narrator of the audiobook (Robert Glenister) did a great job.

I'd watched the series Strike between reading the first and second books, and it was fun picturing Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger in my head (as Strike and Robin) as I read this.

By the time I read this book I was deep in tax season, so I'm only now getting around to reviewing it. I enjoyed it just as much as the first book if not more -- although Cormoran Strike is a favorite character, I was happy to see Robin getting more to do and finally getting her due in this book. The victim and other characters in the murder plot were all the sort who "needed killing," but were so well-drawn that it was still a pleasure to read about them. Highly recommended.

I am reminded why I waited so long to read the second in this series. Although I like the author (JK) and writing style and the story is well done, I just did not like the book that much and I think it was because I really didn't like any of the characters either. And the story was too graphic at times. Yeah it just was not a pleasure to read. Remind me NOT to read any other Cormoran Strike books.
