To quote Julius Caesar (as played by Dom DeLuise), "Nice. Not thrilling, but nice."
It was cute. Lots of horrible puns, which you would think would be to my taste, but somehow having them come at you one after another, it just gets grating. (In my opinion, a pun or dad joke truly shines when one spontaneously seizes a happenstance opportunity during a normal conversation.)

Absolutely loved the word play and manipulation of language and meaning in this book. I'm not sure how I'd never read it before, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it now! I was hooked from the very first page.

I want to rate this 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed all the word play and the cleverness involved in this novel - it very much reminded me of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, many of the Roald Dahl books, and some of the Shel Silverstein silliness. The story developed a little slowly for me, though, which is one reason my 8yo, a precocious reader, has started this book twice and still not gotten into it.

Wow. What a difference listening to a wonderful narration can make! When I originally read this book several years ago (for the first time and as an adult), I didn't care for it. I gave it two stars. Now, I want to recommend it to my sister to listen to with her daughter.

This is a delightful whimsical adventure for both children and adults. There are so many quotable lines! Highly recommend it. ☺
