It was 2000 when I first read Harry Potter. My friend Super Suz recommended the series to me but I put off reading it for ages. I wasn’t into reading much young adult stuff back then and my argument for not reading them was that I wasn’t interested in reading children’s book. How book-snobbish of me.

J.K. Rowling is a great writer. She brings another world to life in the eyes of fans all around the Earth. She has been criticized for creating a world and just going off of an original idea not knowing what was going to happen next. It does not matter how she did it, but she did create a world that I personally have seen in friends that awakens the reader in a dormant person. I remember not liking this one *quite* as much as the others when I originally read it. During my first reading I felt like Harry was whiny and intentionally wallowing instead of allowing others to help him and that drove me a little crazy. This time I feel like I understood his reaction to the chaos and danger and confusion and frustration and tragedy of all that he was facing and I really appreciated the story a lot more.
