I wish I liked this more :(

Thanks to the folks at BookRiot (advertising works, kids), I dipped my toe into audio territory by trying a memoir that is read by the author. Rebecca Schinsky suggested this one, numerous times, so off I went.
Thank you so much, Rebecca. Not only do we hear from Amy herself, but there are numerous guest voices (including her parents) and even a "live" segment wherein she talks a bit and then reads a chapter for a roomful of people.

I really enjoyed listening to this. It was funny and irreverent and chatty. Maybe not quite as good as Bossypants, but still an enjoyable way to make driving less annoying. I'd recommend it in audio format as there are guests readers and good production values and you get the comic timing in audio. Sometimes you just need this sort of random cotton candy look into someone else's life to give you a break from yours.

I read this book in less than a week. That isn't to say that it was especially suspenseful or that I'm a fan girl. I have not watched SNL for years (decades?) and I have never watched an entire episode of Parks and Rec. This is an interesting book. As a reader who hasn't really followed Poehler, the book is all over the place. It's organized by topic, and loosely chronologically, ...more

Hmm all these comedians are writing life stories these days? I suppose it is because they know they are funny! But this really wasn't a "funny" book. Anyway, this was a fun read of Amy's life story (nothing really too personal though she just skimmed the surface) mixed with antidotes of her TV/Movie projects. As I am a big SNL fan and Parks & Rec fan so I particularly liked these parts of the book. Its not a full on comedy book or a full on memoir as she doesn't go too deep on personal stuff, an

I like Amy Poehler but this is a book that didn't need to be written. It has fun anecdotes, some words of wisdom - but it is written by someone who isn't wiser than anyone else or has really lived a life worthy if a book. I sound harsh and don't mean to me. However, this book didn't say anything worth remembering.
