I really enjoyed this book. I got completely caught up in the story and did not predict the ending at all. The tone is breezy and light, but the subject matter here ranges across parenting, bullying, domestic violence, and friendship. The book deftly handles the subject in a way that didn't feel heavy handed but was also not completely flippant. I'm really glad that my book club picked this one because I think it'll make a great discussion point and I probably wouldn't have read it on my own. Th

I'm not entirely sure how I felt about this book. At some times I loved it, at others I felt like I was just flipping pages to be done. It was part chick-lit, part mystery, part serious domestic violence - there was definitely a lot going on. Also, I'm not sure I loved the format of knowing there was a murder through the whole book and then not finding out who was actually murdered until close to the end. At first it was a good hook, then it just got old and annoying (as did the ridiculous quote

Oh this was one of those books I thought I had already read since I had heard so much about it over the past few years and then I realized I had not read it so had to give it a try! I am glad I did as it was a very intriguing read!

This was good but not as good as What Alice Forgot. The author really knows how to follow multiple characters and finish strong with a surprise ending, which I love. But...a huge part of this book, actually the main part, deals with domestic violence and sexual abuse, which, despite the dramatic storytelling and good ending, is too heartbreaking for me. I get too upset! I did really love the supporting characters, though!

I thought this novel was just another chick lit easy, breezy read. Boy, was I wrong! This novel has so much - comedy, mystery, social consciousness. I absolutely loved it! I'm looking forward to seeing how HBO handles the story with their upcoming series.
