What Members Thought
I avoided this book for years because I had heard there was animal abuse and I didn't think I could handle it. It finally came up in one of my book clubs that I couldn't rig the vote on and I'm so happy I was "forced" to read it. I won't deny that I skipped over a few sections when I didn't want to know exactly what was happening to the animals, but it is overall a love story, and a great one.

This book just sucked me right in - great story, and great characters. I'd love to give it 5 stars, but there was just too much animal abuse/neglect. I appreciate that it's historically accurate and all, but it still bothered me.

Loved it! The best book I've read in quite a long time. I thought it would be a book entirely about the circus, but there was much more to it.

I loved this book -the writing was beautiful, the characters so real... really gorgeous and highly recommended.
Entertaining but not life-changing. The setting, a traveling circus during the depression, was pretty cool.
Loved. Plain & simple.
