it was a little strange to be reading the book as if i was a student at hogwarts or a wizard child...as strange as reading quidditch through the ages and fantastic beasts and where to find them...probably would have gotten more interest in general if it had been released closer to the release of hp7 but what can you do?
clever. very clever and creative. JK Rowling is an amazing writer. the book is a kids book, and yet not. the "commentary" by Dumbledore is exactly as I imagine he would write, and the tales themselves are fun and instructive. I wish I wrote as well as she does. :) This was a quick, fun read, and perfect for anyone who enjoyed the Harry Potter series.

Entertaining. I'd have to read it multiple times before I could start telling wizarding fairy tales to my kids though ;) Fun little addition to the HP world.

Audiobooks's 2011:
This one is well read and amusing. I like getting all the stories read by her, and then we get all sorts of educational/historical responses and pick-apart by Dumbledore. I think I enjoyed this even more than the time I read the paper copy, because it much went slower this time, too. Though I remember be surprised it ended so fast, too. ...more

More wonderful Rowling! The only downside is that I wish it never had to end! These are great, pithy stories that perfectly reconcile with the Wizarding world and leave me clamoring for more windows into a world that has captured me so much.
I thoroughly enjoyed Dumbledore's commentary. I want to listen to this one again.
