What Members Thought

A powerful book that begins slowly, bringing the reader into the world of Nigeria pre- and post-Biafran War. Adichie evokes the time and place with both concrete and evocative details. Having lived in Nigeria as a child, only a few years before the war began, I was stunned as an adult to see the underpinning conflict of the time. I lived in the southern, Yoruba area of the country, and I was interested to see how different this book, based in Igbo territory, felt.

Really enjoyed the book. Well written. I really like how the book is readable despite its length. Recommended.

Wow, what a phenomenal read! I think I liked this best of all of Ngozi Adichie's novels.
