This is the first time I've read Jane Eyre and I'm sorry it took me so long to say "hello" to Jane. I could have benefited from reading her tale at various times in my past, but I'm glad to have made the acquaintance now, as I've found a life long companion in Jane.
I admire Jane as she changed and grew with each of life's circumstances. At times it was unpleasant, unfair, gothic and prejudiced ... but it was real, and she took us, the readers, along with her on the journey as we saw the world t ...more

There couldn't possibly be another classic that I would love more. Jane is so compelling, such a beloved character. And oh the romance! From the moment Jane and Mr. Rochester meet, there is chemistry that cannot be denied. Read it (loved it) in HS, Read again as I approach my 50th year and all I can say is... The writing is gorgeous. But Jane Eyre herself as a charactor was so meek and self-effacing. I keep hearing her calling ROchester "Her Master" and "Sir". It just felt rather mroe 50 shades of Grey than I expected. I'm reading Middlemarch at the same time, and I can see the beginnnings of feminist agitation there clearly, and oerhaps Jane Eyre in her subservience is also an agitator, in terms of "is this what

More romantic than Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre is a thrilling gothic love story with complex and interesting characters.
Jane is an orphan who spent her childhood with relatives who don't love her and eventually send her away. Jane decides to take a position as a governess in the home of Mr. Rochester.
Jane soon falls in love with Mr. Edward Rochester, and he with her. However, he has a dark secret that may be destined to keep them apart.
A classic that deserves to be read.
