I reread this after maybe 10-12 years. Not only does it hold up, I now find the "conference" transcript at the end so much more pointed a critique.

This is the second Atwood book I've read. And I once again enjoyed and was a bit frightened by her ability to make her society so real. Fertile women have been forced into sexual servitude for the benefit of the country, after a strict training on piety. Apparently, from the scene where there are tourists, there isn't a world-wide fertility issue. I read this years ago, but wanted to listen to it and really gained a different perspective doing so. Thank you Margaret Atwood for such a well-written book.
