I kept reading Sleeping King as Stephen King which made for a much weirder story than it already was. I’m not much into Lovecraft, so this wasn’t for me.
This story was weird as hell and super bloody. If you don't really love horror, put it down and walk away. It was full of gore and lots of death. Some good revenge and race hatred in this. It was shocking how much La Valle packed into just over a hundred pages. If it sound like your jam, I would definitely pick it up. Then turn the the lights low, lock your door, and wait for the scares to begin ....
