Gone Girl is a book that will surprise you, keep you guessing and perhaps leave you feeling a bit unsettled at the end of it all. It's the story of Nick and Amy - two people with ordinary names who turn out to be anything but ordinary. This is a book where no one is who they seem, where every secret is a lie, where seemingly inconsequential details turn into major plot twists. Gone Girl is certainly a thriller - a very well done one.

I devoured this smart, savage thriller in less than 24 hours and found it to be completely satisfying.
Gillian Flynn crafted two relatable, empathetic characters in Nick and Amy -- sharp, smart, funny writers -- a duo I could easily see fitting in with my group of friends. When Amy goes missing, Nick comes under fire and every part of his turbulent marriage is scrutinized by the police, the media and the public.

Gah! I don't know whether I like or dislike this book. I felt very irritated and impatient for it to be over for much of the way through, and yet I did want to know how it would end enough to keep reading. I figured out the first big twist very early on, and one of the theories I had about the ending was close to the real one, so I wish there had been more surprises than there were. I was constantly aware that I was being manipulated by Flynn, which I don't like. If you want to mess with me, fin

The star system is misleading. I hated this book. I hated these characters. But I couldn't stop reading it. It is either the worst thing ever written or the most clever.

I think it should get closer to 3.5 stars, but not quite 4 stars. I liked it quite a bit, but it's...odd. Which is probably part of its charm, but honestly, I couldn't decide how I felt about the characters. And the ending. It's kind of like a Criminal Minds episode turned inside out, but not. I am not sure this is a book that can be described, it maybe has to be read.

Wow...complete psychological whodunit turned thriller. The beginning didn't hold me as tight, but not far into part two and I was wholly invested. Lots of twists, lots of turns and even though I knew of their presence when I started the book, they still caught me off guard.

Maybe should be only two stars. I read it only because it was a selection for bookclub. Felt like a waste of time. Will give the author credit for imagining two completely worthless characters and writing really well about them!

This was a book where you don't really like any of the major characters, yet it still holds your interest.
