Super violent. Super irreverent. Super fun.
I look forward to reading more of this.
I loved the characters. There wasn’t really much of a plot, except for: bad ass group of assassins and their friends (who are also badass assassins) finds out who is behind the attempt to kill all of them, and eliminates the threat. I mean, that’s an okay plot, but it lacks some nuance :-) The healing spells took away some of the tension, since they could heal anyone no matter how bad the injury.

So! Much! Fun! Yes, this is a hypersexualized grrrl-power comic that will appeal to chicks who dig cosplay, RPGs, and fantasy shit, but, even despite the fact one would be hard pressed to label this work as legitimately feminist (co-created by dudes, one of whom was arrested for domestic violence), it's still a worthwhile read for kickass nerd girls who don't get a lot of legitimate page time and screen time. Would it have been nice to see some fat chicks who aren't orcs? Yeah. But there are mor

Rat Queens! Rat Queens! Rrrrrraaaaaaaat Queeeeeensssssssss!!!!!!
I like Rat Queens so much, I even like typing it and saying "Rat Queens." Even though, as of trade paperback volume 1, it's not a very meaningful title. (No character is a rat, or, as far as I can tell, an actual queen.)

My friend Genny had been recommending this series for a while, so when I started reading this volume I had my usual contrary "but is this really as good as it's made out to be?" resistance going on. Resistance that started thawing right around "What's with men and tentacles? Sick of this shit." Resistance that cracked at "You put an arrow in my favourite boob, fuckwit!" And then, I fell in love when Betty, the sex, drugs, and candy obsessed Smidgen brags, "Who's officially scarier than a squirre

"Who are the Rat Queens? A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire, and they're in the business of killing all god's creatures for profit." This was hilarious, charming, bloody, kickass and bloody. And also gory. In a fun way? The gals have been sent on what turns out to be an ambush following another drunken brawl in town and they need to figure out who wants them dead. Lots of battles, lots of quippy one lines (usually with swears), lots of blood and dismemberment and eye
