Several words come to mind as I try to describe this book: Original. Brilliant. Illuminating. Devastating. I’ve read memoirs about domestic partner abuse before, but I’ve never read anything like this.

Read for the Read Harder Challenge; would not have picked up otherwise. I think I would read a book about any subject if Machado wrote it. Wasn't sure about the "organization" of the book, but it was perfect. Glad I widened my horizons.
