I want to eat only Korean food after this.
As an Asian American whose mom has also passed, I really connected with Crying in H Mart. This book broke my heart and then stitched it right up again.

So, I realllllly wanted to love this book, especially because her story is almost identical to mine with my mother. But, for some reason, it just fell flat for me. It wasn’t bad but it was just ok.
Complicated memoir about a young woman's complicated relationship with her mother (and food). My new policy is that I don't give star ratings to people's memoirs. But this is an emotional read that also includes a lot of information about food, with a strong narrative structure.
