Novels like these are why I love historical fiction. There was so much history in this I didn’t know - about the Spanish Civil War and Chile’s political history. Having traveled to Chile several years ago, I knew about Pinochet’s rule (though up until then, not the role America played in putting him in power) but not much about what led up to it. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Learned so much about the history of Spain and Chile through this time period. And was captivated by the personal histories of the main characters. Thank you netgalley for a review copy.
Gently moving historical fiction beginning with the Spanish Civil War and ending in Chile in the early 1990s. One of those experiences where I realize how much I didn’t know.
