I always enjoy Scalzi’s books. Always fun and fast passed Sci-Fi. If you like mysteries and sports, you would enjoy this book.

Second book in Lock in series is around a unique violent game for Hadens, small percentage of population who cannot move physically but are present in real world nonetheless through their Threep. Although violent no player should be in real danger but everything changes when a player dies during a game and one of the audience is Chris , the most famous Haden which happens

Meh. It was just okay, not nearly as good (to me) as the first book. This is undoubtedly largely due to the fact that the mystery in this case was in two areas that are reallllllly not my thing in mysteries: sports and financial/ market type intrigue and bla bla bla. The market stuff was definitely part of the story in Lock In as well, but there it was part of the larger world building and there was more at stake, it seemed.

Sci-fi mystery/thriller is a genre I don't dip into nearly enough. In Head On, we return to the world Scalzi created in Lock In, where 1% of the world's population has been locked into their bodies by an illness. I just love this series so much. The mysteries are engaging, the sci-fi accessible and the world Scalzi builds is so rich you wind up totally believing it's normal for a person's conciousness to pop in and out of different robotic bodies and online worlds. I can't wait to read the next one. ...more

There was a surprising amount of talk about sports supplements in this not-very-gritty cop procedural also featuring robot surrogates.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that inside of another well-done science fiction mystery from Scalzi, this also tackles things like PEDs, concussion worries and pyramid-scheme sports leagues (hi, Major League Soccer!) All that and it's a very entertaining and funny crime novel. A very good follow-up to Lock In and I definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of FBI agents Chase and Vann. ...more
