I loved this but wow, I cannot read a book or see a movie about space without reaffirming how I never, ever, ever want to be an astronaut or go to space. Ever. I will just die on this planet, thanks.

Read Harder: Natural Disaster & Climate Change

This book was chosen for one of my bookclubs and fits nicely with these two Read Harder challenge tasks, as the premise is that an enormous meteorite decimates the East Coast DC area which then leads to cataclysmic climate change and a need to establish colonies off planet. This was fun. Much less of a focus on the apocalypse itself - the precipitating event (meteor strike) is covered quickly and not in depth, as it’s not the focus. The focus is on the preparations to get off of Earth, which will become uninhabitable. Lots of interesting cultural and social dynamics at play.
