I mean, I'mma read the next one. I LOVED the beginning and the end - the bits where Elma is Sciencing the Shit Out of Everything. She kinda does that throughout the book, but it concentrated way more on the struggle of female astronauts to be taken seriously. Though it has a different result, it was much like reading Almost Astronauts, which I love but... like... I've read that. I'm excited for the sequel (already out) and that one might be more to my liking.

The story is predictable but satisfying . The characters are interesting and the read was supersonic. The low rating has to do with the unfortunate luck of being read after an amazing book. I will likely read the sequel.
So this was a book where I was way more into the conceit and story than the characters, which is unusual for me.
It speaks to how compelling the story is that I kept reading all the way through, even though I found the main character very annoying (is this intentional? I'd love to know!)

I just want to note I didn't dnf this because it was bad, but because it was triggering my anxiety because she was thinking about her apocalypse a lot of the same way I'm thinking about ours, and I stopped sleeping. Maybe someday I'll be able to read this.
