The other day I was browsing Netflix, wondering what to watch and thought I just might watch Cosmos over again. Listening to this audiobook was a good substitute. Tyson does what he sets out to do here: boils down his massive, technical scientific field into a 4-hour audiobook, just perfect for a trip to Indy and back. Now. Some of it still went over my head. I listened to the audiobook in chunks of maybe 20 or so minutes at a time, giving me ample time to digest what I was hearing between chunks.
I really enjoyed the book, and for the most part, I felt like it was paced really well, with a perfect balance between simplicity and technicality so that I as able to follow along. I consider myself Science Channel addict. I've watched so many astrophysics shows and documentaries and am a Neil fanboy. So nothing in the book was groundbreaking or a surprise. I enjoyed it, though, and can see its value for those who haven't yet been exposed to these ideas.

Short book. I listened on audio, and probably would have retained more if I had read it. It's brief, but I occasionally felt I would have understood things better with a slightly simpler, or maybe even longer explanation. Just because it's short, it's not necessarily a "for dummies" book.
