This is like most David Mitchell novels. If someone told you the premise, it would sound too dumb to even consider picking up, but 10 pages in you’re irrevocably rapt to the story, and a few hours pass in a blur and then you’re done. This is another (smaller) gem of a novel from a real master of a very specific type of craft. His novels that are not so format-busting are also great, but these are just exquisite.

What a fantastically creepy book. It's kind of like... If Stephen King wrote the Yellow Wallpaper. That's how I felt when I read it. It's fantastic.
