I picked this up in the used book shop the other day, with really no idea what I would be getting into. I've never seen the film and am still unsure as to why the cover of the book has 4 blondes on it, when I only encountered 2 in the novel.

This book was painful. Reading it felt like picking at a scab. Astrid's story helped me to understand things that growing up in a secure home I never understood. I showed me a world I never really looked at or thought about too much. I'll never forget this one...
