This was a totally delightful little diversion. The Queen has discovered a love of reading and it's affecting her ability to do - or rather, her interest in doing - her royal duties. Her family, government officials, and courtiers are Not Amused by her newfound obsession, either.

Her Majesty the Queen is at home one day when the dogs decide to explore a bit and find the Mobile Library parked outside the palace kitchen. She investigates and feels that since she is there, the least she can do is borrow a book. She takes a book by an author she remembers meeting and feels obliged to read it.

Queen Elizabeth out chasing her dogs stumbles upon the local bookmobile and checks out a book. Seems she hasn't done much reading in her life, but learns to love books. Unfortunately, her aides and ministers don't like all of the reading. The story had great potential which (I felt) was destroyed on the last page.

This novella was quite fun - basically the Queen of England takes up reading (thanks to a bookmobile, woo!) and it's about how she is changed by this newfound pastime.
