This is the story of Cujo, one of the last slaves to be brought over from Africa, whom Zora Neale Hurston met and interviewed before his death. His story is unique - he was able to tell Hurston about his life and traditions in Africa and also about slavery and his post-slavery life. Written in vernacular, I found that audio was a great way to take in this story and Robin Miles is an able narrator.
Wrenching and raw and WONDERFUL in the audiobook—highly recommend listening for the full effect of the dialect and emotions. Amazing story and storytellers.
