When I started this book, I thought this is going to be one of those books I love, an Invisible Library agent on missions between alternate worlds. What is there not to love? But it didn’t matter how hard I tried, something was off in this book.
I still believe story itself was awesome but execution was weak. To me it sounded like writer tried too hard so the characters seem cool and unfortunately it was unsuccessful.
Later I might start the second book but it won’t be anytime soon.

Just not my cup of coffee. As a real librarian (and not a fantasy adventure agent Librarian with a capital L), I feel sometimes like titles such as this attempt to pander to people in my profession. Yeah, most of us librarians do feel a sense of importance and pride in our work, and most of us genuinely love books as objects, as art, and as vessels of information and knowledge. This book surprised me! Despite having a bit of a slow start, I liked pretty much every character, which is no small feat. It was fun to read, even though I'm not generally much for steampunk settings. I might continue with future books in the series so I can revisit the characters.
