Read for Book Riot’s 2025 Read Harder Challenge #3 - Read a queer mystery.

This was just OK for me. I couldn’t remember who any of the characters were and there were tons of them.

GAAAAAAHHHHH I keep waiting for my adrenaline to chill because HOLY CROW that took a turn for the thriller in the end!

Roxane Weary is the disastrous, self-sabotage-y bisexual PI that you have always wanted to read about. Someone hires her to make a last-ditch effort into a cold case in order to save someone from death row - and the case just spirals outward. Yeah well i read it in 24 hours while taking care of a sick three year old and one manning both kids for a significant portion of the time so i would say i enjoyed it.Solid mystery, great fucked up protagonist, she's a terrier and shes ridiculous. Great red herrings, great multiple storylines that all surprisingly tied in.
