So many great collections of short stories lately. This book is incredible. "Windfalls" and "Who Will Greet You at Home" feel like snippets from much larger stories. Arimah manages to switch from modern day to futuristic dystopian to mythology without missing a beat. I'll be preordering her novel.

Like most story collections, some of these landed (oooohh. bad unintentional pun!) and others didn't. I realized that the last story was one I heard on Lavar Burton Reads, and it remains haunting. Probably 3.5, but maybe rounding down (unfairly?) because the narrator's American accent felt really aggressively grating and nasal, so I had a hard time getting into the stories where she used it.
